I have wished for a rebirth of some sort of national volunteer corps for years and years. I think it could go such a long way to connecting people, particularly young people who are the most likely participants, to a sense of common purpose that is constructive and life enhancing.
I so agree, Asha. The sense of common purpose is essential— that’s why most people volunteer anyway- it’s a great feeling.
