The "good ol' boy network" that the PSC has been operating under for years and years might actually have to, oh you know, actually REPRESENT the people it supposedly serves. GA Power has had it good for far too long (Wanna read about their incompetence? For starters, Google "Plant Vogtle", the first nuclear power plant built in this country for 30 years, and now approaching a $30 billion price-tag...beyond ridiculous!) and things just might be changing. We can only hope...
How time flies. Boats and floats seemed to go in the water just a short time ago. The long days and early sunrises of summer are shorter. The nights are cooler. It's becoming real that winter storage is closing in. It's how a life comes and goes. But we always hope for another season. Let's do all we can for the next generation and not let this nation quit.

My apartment was on a hill up from Catholic U. - where I attended the School of Library Science - right next to a stop sign that was part of a major bus route with frequent buses! Diesel buses. Amazing I don't have some sort of lung cancer between 1966 and today! Miserable barely describes it!

I love this thread about sharing so I'm adding a project I created from Robert Hubbell's answer to the lies the GOP is spreading about Inflation Reduction Act, (specifically designed for use on Twitter). They are saying that IRA was going going to raise $20 billion in taxes from the middle class. This was reported by the NY Post allegedly based on a CBO analysis. I read the article but I couldn't understand what was incorrect until I asked for help in Robert's newsletter comments and he explained how they twisted what the CBO said in his next newsletter.
So each of these four tweets addresses a specific lie raised by GOP and includes a link to a source. They are 280 characters and the links work. The first one is the general one which used Robert's Tax and Spend quote and links to an earlier newsletter. The other three are introductions to the next newsletter answering the GOP lies. I hope this makes it a little easier to spread the word! I post these in answer to lying tweets.

Troubling, though, is after you stop counting the days that pass, you find yourself many months and years later incredulous that it was so long ago that you lost them.

Indeed, I am one who visits them at the cemetery. It does give me a bit of peace. As you pointed out, I was there a week ago thinking "25 years for Mom? 10 for Dad? 5 for sister and 3 her husband?" My family are all nature lovers. In the fall, when there are bags of nuts in the shell available, I buy them and leave a nut at each grave for the animal visitors. In summer, a pinecone. My Dad visited my Mom daily up till he was near the end. He'd say "she wrote to me every single day in WW2" He feared we'd forget Mom (how could we?) and seeing the pinecones meant a lot to him. I go there about monthly now, but think of them daily.
My very close friend, she was cremated and scattered in Hawaii per her request. I sort of miss a spot to visit so I visit in my mind. I hope that in time you will find a way to honor your friendship and garner some peace from that.
Wow, Miselle. That's quite a ritual you keep for your loved ones. I am impressed with including the critters in your visit. Such a lovely and loving family you belong to! My sister and I make semi regular visits to my mom (24 yrs) and two dads (65 and 43 yrs). My mom insisted on burying her second husband nearby her first husband, and then herself in the same spot. So it's sort of a one-stop shop for paying respects.

Well, I can't find the specific book (if I've even recalled correctly) but my recollection is that the man in question was struggling with depression or an illness and instituted a daily diet of comedy shows on television (this was several decades ago so my recollection is faint). While searching, I was found several other interesting items and also was reminded of Laughter Yoga. It does work even when or if you begin faking the laughter (I've experienced this myself in a group I belong to). In any case, Randy R. makes clear that it is especially important to us during the current political idiocy.

Well, dang, Ally. Sorry to miss your wonderful reply. I actually got on a Randy Rainbow "loop" this afternoon, watching videos I hadn't seen before as well as Mary Trump's hour's long interview. (I actually took his "running out of show tunes" to be a joke.) He said he grew up listening to musical songs that his mother supplied him. His attention to detail putting those shows together is phenomenal...doing it all by himself, in his living room!
Wonderful. I'm from Kittery, Maine, way down at the NH border. I went to the University of Maine in Orono. The closest I ever got to Moosehead Lake was Millinocket, where my ex-wife was from. I miss Maine a lot. My favorite season is Late Summer/Fall. That's when colors come out in Maine.

I am very sorry for your loss, I lost my brother this past January. Loss is part of life, indeed, it is never easy, but to be blindsided by it is truly awful.
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your brother, Miselle. We are supposed to feel better with the passing of time, which is, I think, how it should be. Troubling, though, is after you stop counting the days that pass, you find yourself many months and years later incredulous that it was so long ago that you lost them.
Yet for now, it has been most comforting conversing with you. Much appreciated.
Indeed, I am one who visits them at the cemetery. It does give me a bit of peace. As you pointed out, I was there a week ago thinking "25 years for Mom? 10 for Dad? 5 for sister and 3 her husband?" My family are all nature lovers. In the fall, when there are bags of nuts in the shell available, I buy them and leave a nut at each grave for the animal visitors. In summer, a pinecone. My Dad visited my Mom daily up till he was near the end. He'd say "she wrote to me every single day in WW2" He feared we'd forget Mom (how could we?) and seeing the pinecones meant a lot to him. I go there about monthly now, but think of them daily.
My very close friend, she was cremated and scattered in Hawaii per her request. I sort of miss a spot to visit so I visit in my mind. I hope that in time you will find a way to honor your friendship and garner some peace from that.
Wow, Miselle. That's quite a ritual you keep for your loved ones. I am impressed with including the critters in your visit. Such a lovely and loving family you belong to! My sister and I make semi regular visits to my mom (24 yrs) and two dads (65 and 43 yrs). My mom insisted on burying her second husband nearby her first husband, and then herself in the same spot. So it's sort of a one-stop shop for paying respects.
Yet, at the same time, it still seems like just yesterday. Hugs.

My mother donated her body to a medical school, so no gravestone. We're getting a memorial brick at the donation program, but I decided if you can't bring Mohammad to the mountain...I'm making portable memorial stones for our family members to share her memory.
This is a fabulous idea, Ellie; a way to keep your mother close. May we all be blessed by the memory of the ones we love.

Who was it, years ago, who healed himself the same way then wrote a book "Laughter is the Best Medicine"? Maybe I'll look it up later.
Well, I can't find the specific book (if I've even recalled correctly) but my recollection is that the man in question was struggling with depression or an illness and instituted a daily diet of comedy shows on television (this was several decades ago so my recollection is faint). While searching, I was found several other interesting items and also was reminded of Laughter Yoga. It does work even when or if you begin faking the laughter (I've experienced this myself in a group I belong to). In any case, Randy R. makes clear that it is especially important to us during the current political idiocy.

Well, dang, Ally. Sorry to miss your wonderful reply. I actually got on a Randy Rainbow "loop" this afternoon, watching videos I hadn't seen before as well as Mary Trump's hour's long interview. (I actually took his "running out of show tunes" to be a joke.) He said he grew up listening to musical songs that his mother supplied him. His attention to detail putting those shows together is phenomenal...doing it all by himself, in his living room!

Wonderful. I'm from Kittery, Maine, way down at the NH border. I went to the University of Maine in Orono. The closest I ever got to Moosehead Lake was Millinocket, where my ex-wife was from. I miss Maine a lot. My favorite season is Late Summer/Fall. That's when colors come out in Maine.
I'm glad Mary Oliver's Loon poem brought back the memories.
My answer it appears. I summered in a cabin with my young children on Moosehead Lake for 2 complete summers. When the children had fledged, I moved to Eastport, ME and now ten years later, I have followed them to the West Coast. I now call Bishop, CA home.
