Former Formula One team boss Eddie Jordan is mulling a second approach to buy Playtech, after a separate bid for the gambling company collapsed.

Jordan, who came close to making a 750p-per share offer for the FTSE 250 company this year, is understood to be considering returning to the table.

Last week, a nine-month takeover battle for Playtech ended after a Hong Kong consortium pulled out of the process. TTB Bond Partners said on Thursday it did not intend to bid for the business, having had its “put up or shut up” deadline extended twice. Playtech’s shares fell more than 19 per cent after the announcement, closing on Friday at 421.8p, valuing the business at £1.3 billion. TTB’s offer had received backing from Mor Weizer,
