This comment from Danusia Malina-Derben makes my work at Life Without Children so worthwhile.

I’m on a mission to break down barriers and build bridges between the childfree, childless and parents. And I work with my writers to ensure their words are inclusive and respectful of everyone.

That said Charlie Brown is a phenomenal and astute writer and needs no help from me to strike the right balance of truth telling and compassion.

Massive thanks to Danusia for not giving the “As a mother…” vibes and showing up to this conversation with an open heart, and wearing her women supporting women cape.

Just read Charlie Brown’s essay on one very uncomfortable reason some women don’t want kids. It’s sharp, and brilliant. And yes, I’m a mother of ten. (Go ahead, laugh. Or gag. I’ll wait.)

Why am I sharing it? Because the cultural script says mothers are supposed to stand at the podium and preach that motherhood is the holy summit of woman…
