Alexander Bain was born. An eminent philosopher and educationalist, Bain was also a pioneering proponent of scientific psychology. In 1876 he founded Mind, the first journal to showcase psychological research.
As a result of his celebrated published works The Senses And The Intellect (1855) and Emotions And The Will (1859); Bain was also instrumental in establishing a functional and behavioral link between physiological data and psychological study.
