DEI Would Strangle North Idaho College. Let’s save NIC from a slow death by DEI... By Brent Regan, Chairman KCRCC (09/19/24)

redoubtnews.com/2024/09/dei-would-stran…

Regan states that North Idaho College (NIC), or any organization that embraces Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) is doomed. Here’s why in a nutshell:

  1. Any organization that wishes to grow and be successful in a competitive environment must focus on quality and operate internally as a meritocracy where competence is valued most.

  2. Any organization that embraces DEI removes competency and replaces it with something else that’s often intangible (e.g., something based on race, sexual orientation or identification, etc.). This focus on DEI limits the talent pool to a subset that’s smaller than the group of all individuals.

  3. The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) is the accreditation body for NIC. NWCCU requires the full integration of DEI as part of their accreditation criterion.

  4. DEI clearly affected NIC negatively, resulting in declining enrollment, rising administration costs, and students who were disadvantaged due to an educational environment that failed to focus on competence and merit.

Conservatives running for NIC Trustees promised to eliminate DEI. Their opponents openly said that if the conservatives won their elections, accreditation would be at risk. The conservatives were driven out by progressive DEI advocates who organized protests, disrupted board meetings, pulled a fire alarm, and threatened and filed lawsuits.

DEI advocates blamed trustees for the problems that progressives were causing and the local media echoed their talking points. Essentially, the arsonists were blaming the firefighters trying to extinguish the blaze.

A Question & Bottom Line Solution for November:

Will NIC is to remain a local community college offering real world training and skills for students, or will it become a DEI nest controlled by progressives in Seattle and Boise?

✔️ To save NIC from a slow death by DEI, vote for William Lyons, Greg McKenzie and Michael Angiletta for NIC Board of Trustees.
