If Musk’s primary goal is not to figure out what’s true or communicate accurate information but to mobilise support for his favoured political causes, his behaviour makes much more sense. When he went on Joe Rogan’s podcast before the recent election and predicted it would be “the end of democracy in America” if Trump lost, that was extraordinarily stupid. It was also—obviously—strategic.
