Good post - completely agree. Have been trying to make this point for a while now. We should be cynical about humanity, not AI. It's absurd how much more attention has been dedicated to the dangers posed by hypothesised superintelligent AI systems themselves than to the dangers posed by human beings - who we know with certainty often do terrible things when doing so promotes their interests - with access to such systems.
