BBC Verify (BBC’s explicitly anti-misinformation wing) and other prominent media outlets published articles implying that a quarter of the UK population believes Covid was a “hoax”, that nearly four million people had attended protests based on obscure conspiracy theories, and other absurdities. When Stuart Ritchie made the simple point that such claims are highly implausible and founded on dubious methodologies, a BBC representative sent him a bizarre response that failed to address any of the concerns or correct the articles.
