Notes

Sometimes I worry about spending time writing blog posts rather than publishing academic articles. (I do both). But then I remind myself that the average academic article effectively just is a blog post, except it’s written in bad prose, typically contains useless jargon and techniques, is bogged down with mostly-pointless citations to the “existing literature”, requires many orders of magntitude more effort and investment, is subject to the mostly-arbitrary biases of anonymous reviewers who have no stake in the final product, and is then read by 12 people.
