QUIET UNDOING

I have made my bed an altar

where shadows dance in candlelight,

my body a slow, deliberate river

If anyone should have an opinion on the death of Pope Francis, it’s probably me. After all, I was one of the most prominent figures leading the charge against his kakistocratic papacy for years.

To be honest, I'm not even sure how I feel. At this point, it's complicated.

My latest, at The Skojec File:

Pope Francis is Dead, But the Damage is Done.

Stocks may have their worst April since 1932. Inflation is now set to rise again, putting pressure on interest rates. US bonds are suddenly no longer a safe bet, rendering US debt far more perilous. The dollar is continuing to fall. Every single ally has been alienated. The Pentagon is in chaos. US scientific research has been permanently crippled. Business investment is in limbo because of the radical uncertainty of one-man rule. The Constitution hangs by a thread.

How much damage can a single president do to a country in three months?

“There is no life without dialogue. And across most of the world, dialogue is today replaced by polemic. The twentieth century is the century of polemic and insult. Between nations and individuals, and even at the level of formerly disinterested disciplines, polemic holds the place which was traditionally held by considered dialogue. Day and night thousands of voices, each pursuing from its own corner a noisy monologue, unleash on people a torrent of mystifying words, attacks, defenses, passion…

“The twentieth century is the century of polemic and insult.”

That’s Alinsky’s Rule Five which is a favorite of the useful idiots because “ridicule” is easy.
