The Easy/Long Daniels pace zones are intended to link to Zones 1 and 2 in a five-zone system. Many athletes can find the faster end of “easy” pace too quick for endurance work.

I prefer to link Green Zone training to LT1, rather than estimating pace from a race effort.

Your question about the best way to improve pace at LT1 => consistent, long term adaptive volume is the best way to achieve that goal. I’m a believer in supplemental bike volume to achieve this goal. Aim most of your volume at, or under, LT1 power/pace.
