The app for independent voices

This morning’s circle felt like a slow pour of creative energy. After setting intentions, we grounded in the body with some visualization and movement to warm and open our chests to take up space.

Mary Harrison wrote about arriving in the Netherlands and trading her family’s workhorse minivan for bikes along with a new way of moving through life. Melissa Menke revisited an old draft with field notes from a Midwest city trip, finding freedom in not needing to define what it was.Jolleen Opula explored the structure of newsletters she admires as a reminder that inspiration often comes from observation.

I shared a piece on finding pride in impermanence and living out of backpacks.

Themes that surfaced:

  • The power of posting online without pressing send by letting work exist quietly in public, even if no one’s notified and how that still encourages us to tidy it up a bit more. (inspired by Michael Dean)

  • Nostalgia and newness when change asks us to rewrite our habits, whether that’s selling a car or returning to an old draft.

  • Pride in showing up, not perfection.

Until next week, may your words flow, your edits feel kind, and your tabs stay (mostly) under control.

In this week’s writing circle we spoke about the importance of goals to feel less aimless. It left us all excited to run marathons and go on runs ourselves today after writing.

It’s starting to feel like this is a writing and running circle. ✍️🏃

A lot of fun with Pablo Musumeci and Jolleen Opula :)

If you want to write and talk about your writing, join my writing circle next Wednesday at 10AM CEST here: tally.so/r/3lxQoV
