Grammerly is especially bad at understanding Slacy. I purposefully drop words, compound words that aren’t normally, and chop up sentences. Part of it is linguistic drift over 70 years. Part of it is how I talk. Part of it is what makes things easier for me to read.
Your dialogue is great, and so are the inner monologues.
I stopped using Grammarly because of the article’s premise. It was okay for corporate-speak when I was being lazy about some report. But for fiction, it wanted to clean everything up—make it pristine. Even the dialogue. It neutered it.
