So, who makes the change? If it’s not your responsibility, it’s their responsibility. Government should do something. Make someone else do it for me! This is the siren call as old as time. For over 2000 years Stoics have shown you the only way to actually fix the problem: It’s you!!

Jonathan Haidt motivated the elimination of cell phones in many schools by motivating the people, not the instiuttions. The second a mass of empowered individuals, a bunch you YOU did something, the institutions followed course.
The worst part of how this reads is it starts by describing children, and then extrapolating that because they’re not matured into their agency, we need to do something different.
It’s solution that’s been tried and tried and tried. From Puritains to Prohibition, this tactic actually backfires spectacularly because it’s always been about you. Because you have agency.
