I was browsing a bookstore a few years back when I randomly struck up a conversation with a woman. She asked what I did for a living. I told her I’m a middle grade author.
Her eyes lit up. “Are your books here? I’ll get one for my daughter!”
So we went looking for my name on the shelves. And they actually had a few, which isn’t always the case. I handed one to her.
“Let’s see if they have a pen up front!” she said excitedly. “You can sign it!”
