My Mother’s Day weekend…
Little hands will paint my days
Art and nature to cascade
We simplify the days in the shade
A single mother celebrates
Flowers are picked and crudely displayed
The shelves of stores will remain
Gifts from the heart are handmade
I sip my tea, a serenade
My cooking will fill our bellies
Gentle and warm, core swelling
A heart displayed in storytelling
No bitter taste or fool’s past dwelling
And when we part, I’ll depart too
Shapeshifting into something new
For a mother is only few
Of what I’ve become, days anew
