Agree about the distorted Christianity of the MAGAts. I call them Christianists (I can't claim ownership of that, I just read it somewhere) who believe in Christianism, an ideology for gaining political power. Jesus NEVER taught about or sought political power.

Rather than condemning them publicly, which only makes them more resolute in their hatred of liberals, I'd like to see Christians who are liberal small-d democrats promote this idea that the values and practices taught in the Gospel are, as Rauch puts it, a load bearing wall in our democracy. Lead by example.
