All right, I have a long newsletter for you this morning, weighing in on some recent debates among Democrats. It covers a lot of ground, and it’s one of those times when I’m going to play the Read-The-Whole-Thing-In-Context Card rather than give you a snappy summary.

I have stayed away from NFL Draft QB evaluations this year but fortunately after listening to Richard Johnson, Ben Solak, and Derrik Klassen, I am now a genius and I can say with confidence who from this QB class will be good. (It’s gonna be Cam Ward and that’s it)

The extent to which Trump’s first three months back in office have been characterized by mistakes—from bumbling embarrassments to calamitous errors—is breathtaking.

One tip for other Substackers. It may be specific to Silver Bulletin, but I thought it was worth sharing.

We don’t really see a lot of unsubscribes from newsletters that are divisive among the user base or in the comments section. Now, the big qualifier here is that that may be partly because these tend to be written carefully. I don’t really consider today’s newsletter a “hot take” for instance, even though it expresses a fairly strong opinion on a controversial topic. Likewise, I couldn’t real…

Pope Francis is Dead, But the Damage is Done.

Pope Francis survived Holy Week and the Paschal Triduum, dying on Easter Monday in the Easter Octave.

Pope Benedict XVI died on the eve of the octave day of Christmas, i.e., the eve of the Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God.

Pope St. John Paul II died on the eve of the octave day of Easter, i.e., the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday (which he himself declared a feast).

SINNERS is a lot of fun: unrepentantly dirty, often quite humorous, and a handful of just absolutely dynamite performances. Plus, it has a guy playing Evil Michael Flatley, Dark Lord of the Dance. What more could you want from a movie?

Taste—bean tacos with onion and cilantro and tomatillo salsa from our local authentic Mexican place, El Chef (I live in SoCal— the Mexican food here is so good.)

Smell— coffee cake my husband is making right now

Sound— my daughter’s voice calling from college

Sight— my home after the kids have actually tidied up after themselves:)

Touch— my 7-year-old’s soft cheek. His big siblings are so much older, but he’s still little, and lets me kiss his cheek. :)

I love how my youngest still wants to snuggle with me! That's a great answer.
