Orthodox Christians prostrate to the ground, touching their foreheads to the earth, then saying “Glory to God.” Arabic-speaking Christians would say “Subhanallah.”
Same God, different Christology, yes, but same God. 20 years ago when I practiced this I prayed on ocassion in Muslim prayer rooms, at the same times Muslims used the space and we had ZERO PROBLEMS. We could humble ourselves for the sake of God and be present for something greater than our little egos.
Funny thing is Western Christians felt uncomfortable with seeing Orthodox prostrate and would never pray along side an Orthodox Christian that is prostrating before God.
Jesus and Mohammed were born less than 1000 miles apart, probably looked very similar in appearance, preached largely the same gospel, were both mystics who went on long meditative quests, seeking the divine, and spent their lives serving the oppressed, the outcasts, the sick, and the poor —
And yet, by Christ…
