They purposely open only 2-3 windows for Americans coming in from abroad so they rush to offer their biometrics. I waited 2 hours in Salt Lake, 2 at LAX and 4 in Atlanta on my most recent trips. Five years ago I never waited more than 40 minutes. It's all intentional.
It's even worse flying into a Port of Entry.
The last 4 flights into the US I missed my connection because of absurdly long TSA/Immigration/Customs lines, 24 windows, 8 agents...with 4 well fed DEI "supervisors" with virtual cattle prods.
(On a side note, there was one loud mouth young guy who smelled of ganja with a ganja t-shirt and hat, and he was literally taken away from the line for an "interview". 30 mins later, as the line snaked around, I saw him again. He literally got the infamous cavity search.)

We were seriously fucked I thought, than someone walked by and said skip the line…. sign up for Clear. I told the wife wait right here and I will check it out. Walked up the keyosk, the first thing I noticed was retinal scan and finger print required. The sign up lady was helping a family of four next to me and said be right there, I said no I don’t give my fingerprints and retinal scan up for a little time saved. They all looked at me like I was a terrorist, we made our flight regardless.
My trip to Japan last month -- the 2nd since 2018. I had no idea ahead of time -- no warning on the scads of websites about being a tourist in Japan -- that ALL "foreigners" were now required to have their fingerprints and retinal scan taken. Fair warning to others ...
