Women's locker room incident at area YMCA stirs controversy
ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORTS, HE CLAIMS TO BE A WOMAN. UPSET AND SHAKEN, WORDS AND MOTHER USED TO DESCRIBE A CONFRONTATION INSIDE THE WOMEN’S LOCKER ROOM AT THE YMCA. ACCORDING TO A POLICE REPORT, THE WOMAN WAS AT THE Y WITH HER TWO TEENAGE DAUGHTERS. A 13-YEAR-OLD AND A 16-YEAR-OLD. THE WOMAN SAID SHE SIDE COMPLETELY NAKED MAN WHO WAS FACING AWAY FROM HIS LOCKER AND COMPLETELY EXPOSED TO THE REST OF THE LOCKER AREA. WHEN CONFRONTED, THE WOMAN SAID THE MAN TOLD HER HE IDENTIFIED AS A WOMAN. THE WOMAN SAID THE DIRECTOR OF THE Y TOLD HER THEY COULDN’T KEEP MEN OUT OF THE WOMEN’S LOCKER ROOM. POLICE IDENTIFIED THE SUSPECT AS 31-YEAR-OLD DARREN OF FAIRBORN. POLICE SAY HE EXPOSE PRIVATE PARTS ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS INSIDE THIS WHY BETWEEN NOVEMBER, 2021 IN NOVEMBER OF LAST YEAR. HE HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH THREE COUNTS OF PUBLIC INDECENCY. THE YMCA OF GREATER DAYTON DECLINED AN ON CAMERA INTERVIEW BUT RELEASED A WRITTEN STATEMENT THAT READS IN PART, GIVEN OUR STRONG RECORD, OUR ADHERENCE TO THE LAW, OUR DEDICATION TO INCLUSIVENESS IN OUR ENVIRONMENT DESIGNED TO PROTECT PERSONAL PRIVACY FOR ALL, WE WILL NOT ALTER OUR CURRENT POLICIES. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL BE INVESTIGATE AND INDIVIDUALS BIRTH GENDER IDENTITY AND THEN ASSIGN INDIVIDUALS TO LOCKER ROOMS. WE DID TRY GETTING HIS SIDE OF THE STORY. WE WENT TO THE HOUSE. THE WOMAN WHO ANSWERED THE DOOR SAID NO,. SHE WOULD NOT CONFIRM IF THEY ARE TRANSGENDER. WE ALSO CONTACTED THE ATTORNEY WHO ALSO GAVE US A NO COMMENT.

A 31-year-old from Fairborn faces three counts of public indecency for an incident inside the Xenia YMCA.On all of the police reports and court documents obtained by WLWT, the suspect is listed as a male named Darren Glines, but, according to police reports, Glines claimed to be a woman when Glines reportedly exposed private parts. A Greene County mother said she was "upset" and "shaken" after a confrontation inside the women's locker room at the Y.According to a police report, the woman was at the YMCA with her two teenage daughters, a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old.The woman said she saw "a completely naked man" who was "facing away from his locker" and "completely exposed to the rest of the locker area."According to the police report, when confronted, the woman said, "She asked him if he was a woman, to which the man replied that he was." The woman also said the director of the YMCA told her they couldn't keep men out of the women's locker room.Xenia police said Glines exposed "private parts" on three separate occasions inside the Xenia YMCA between November 2021 and November of last year. The YMCA of Greater Dayton declined an on-camera interview but released this written statement: "The Greater Dayton YMCA adheres to Ohio and Federal laws and antidiscrimination laws which allow all members access to its facilities and programs, regardless of religion, national origin, race, color, sex, age, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation. In addition, the Greater Dayton YMCA has a strong record of both protecting personal privacy and modesty in our facilities which are both safe and accommodating while serving and including all members of the community equally.Given our strong record, our adherence to the law, our dedication to inclusiveness, and our environment designed to protect personal privacy for all, we will not alter our current policies.Let it be known that, under no circumstances will we investigate an individual's birth gender identity and then, assign individuals to locker rooms. That would be counter to the law, counter to respect for all people, and it is not who or what we are as an organization."WLWT tried to get Glines' side to this story. A woman who came to the door had no comment. She also would not confirm Glines gender identity. Glines' attorney also had no comment. Messages left with the alleged victims were not returned.
