Nothing can prepare you for losing a child. Our dear son Sam went home to Jesus yesterday after 8 months in the NICU. If you are a praying person, please pray for us. We are devastated but also relieved that his suffering has ended. It was agonizing to watch him every day and go from a great day to a horrible day in a snap.
Very good news! Not only is Abrego Garcia alive, Salvadoran authorities, reversing their initial refusal, allowed him to meet with Senator Van Hollen, who called Abrego Garcia’s wife to “pass along his message of love.” The police-state machine blinking in the harsh light of global scrutiny?
A teacher at the school where my husband works said he shared my newsletter on writing by hand with his students to help them understand why they have to learn penmanship and turn in handwritten papers. I love that my writing might help them see the value and beauty in doing something difficult and countercultural.

I was on my way to a job interview when I got pulled over by a police officer. Just to set the scene—I’m Native American, and my friend riding with me is Black.
As fate would have it, both of my brake lights decided to stop working at the exact same time. Naturally, as the officer approached, I start…
Look, I may not always turn my work in on time, or do it the way you think it should be done, or remember every single important detail, or follow all of the directions, or remember where I was going with this…

I’m going to say something that shouldn’t be controversial but will be. If you are a Christian, you can support border control and immigration being legal vs illegal. You CANNOT celebrate deportations and get off on the cruelty, and be a real Christ follower. Period

At home we pay respects to two remarkable men: Jawaharlal Nehru (1889-1964), India's first prime minister post-Gandhi, and G.I. Gurdjieff (c. 1869-1949), saint of tough wisdom.
Gurdjieff said: "Take the understanding of the East and the knowledge of the West—and then seek." That is what these unacquainted men did.
I'm currently writing a defense of the revelations of Christ to St. Faustina and the Divine Mercy devotion in response to the attacks from (some) radical traditionalists. Buckle up.

Commentaries on the Letter of Jude are more interesting than you might expect. There’s a lot going on in these 459 words. F’rinstance, Jude 9 is a real rabbit hole: ”But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounc…

So interesting looking at artists' careers through the lens of their chart success as opposed to just musical criteria - I knew Frankie Vallie was important but wasn't aware of the longevity of his success.
As for the Beatles 'killing careers' - there may be some truth to this, but don't you think that they offset that by creating about a thousand *new* careers by inspiring every kid in the USA to pick up a guitar? Sure it was different than what preceded it but. . . that's what pop music is all about. Sure sounds different today than in 1964, or 1962 before the British Invasion hit, or for that matter the '80s & '80s.
